Foundation later stated that it launched its second-generation Passport device in March 2022. This second-generation product was originally known as Passport Batch 2 and was renamed Passport Core in 2025.

Foundation renamed its existing second-generation Passport, previously referred to as Passport Batch 2, to Passport Core while keeping it in the product line alongside Passport Prime.
